If you have a tattoo you no longer want, you’re in good company. As many as one in eight Americans with tattoos regret getting it. Consequently, tattoo removal is a very popular service.

Many people get tattoos at a young age and no longer want them as the years pass. You may feel that your tattoos no longer fit your style, interests, or values. Perhaps you have a tattoo that represents something or something that is no longer a part of your life. Whatever the reason, an unwanted tattoo can be a source of discouragement and embarrassment. With effective tattoo removal, you can have a clean slate free of that unwanted ink.

What Tattoo Removal Treatments Are Available?

People may have warned you that tattoos are a lifelong commitment, but with advanced technology and treatments, they no longer have to be. The Langdon Center offers laser tattoo removal with the most cutting-edge devices to give you the best results.

Laser tattoo removal is typically considered the most effective method of removing unwanted tattoos. Other methods include dermabrasion and excision or surgical removal.

Dermabrasion uses an abrasive device to sand off the top layers of skin and, with it, your tattoo. However, this uncomfortable and expensive procedure isn’t always effective and isn’t safe for all patients. Surgical excision completely removes the tattoo, making it undeniably effective, but at the expense of a permanent scar and several weeks of healing. Alternatively, laser tattoo removal is highly successful, convenient, and has far less recovery time and risk of scarring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Several types of laser devices can be used to remove tattoos. During the treatment, the ink particles of your tattoo absorb the laser energy and get broken down. Your body then filters out these damaged particles over time.

Laser tattoo removal is most commonly performed with a Q-switched laser. The Langdon Center has multiple lasers, such as the PicoSure and PiQo4 lasers, that can effectively remove tattoos. These picosecond lasers deliver much faster pulses than the traditional Q-switched devices, making them faster and more effective. With these advanced technologies, we can treat tattoos of almost any color.

Laser tattoo removal isn’t an overnight solution. Most patients need multiple sessions for optimal results. Darker, larger, or more recent tattoos typically require more treatments than older, lighter tattoos. Thanks to our revolutionary picosecond lasers, we can often fade tattoos with fewer and faster treatments than traditional Q-switched lasers.

Depending on your tattoo, you should expect to need at least four treatments scheduled eight weeks apart. These treatments usually take an hour or less.

Not all tattoos can be completely removed with laser treatments. However, with advanced technology and an experienced provider like Dr. Langdon, you can significantly fade your tattoo or even see it disappear altogether. And once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. You’ll never have to worry about that unwanted tattoo again after laser tattoo removal.
