What to Expect with Laser Acne Treatment
May 20, 2023
You’re probably familiar with laser hair removal and may even know of the various laser treatments used to erase wrinkles and signs of aging. But did you know that laser technology can also clear your acne?
What is LaserClear Laser Acne Treatment?
The LaserClear treatment uses two types of lasers to effectively reduce moderate to severe acne. The Langdon Center is one of the few places to offer both of the needed laser devices to comprehensively treat acne. Combining infrared wavelength laser technology of two different pulse durations allows for the most effective treatment. Best of all, LaserClear produces long-standing or permanent results, much like the powerful drug Accutane but without side effects.
The laser energy helps shrink the sebaceous (oil) glands and reduce bacteria. Because acne is typically the result of overactive sebaceous glands leading to bacterial overgrowth and inflammation, LaserClear treats the root cause, not just the symptoms.
What to Expect With Laser Acne Treatment
Dr. Langdon or an expert member of his team will perform your laser treatment, which doesn’t require any anesthesia. The laser devices will be carefully moved over your skin to deliver the laser or light energy to your deeper tissues. Your sebaceous glands absorb this energy, which damages them and reduces excess oil production.
A LaserClear treatment typically takes 20-30 minutes with little to no discomfort. You can simply sit and relax while the laser technology does its work.
How Many Laser Acne Treatments Will I Need?
Most people need a series of several LaserClear sessions spaced two to four weeks apart for optimal results. Dr. Langdon or our skincare expert, Maria Koursaris, will evaluate your skin to create a personalized treatment plan, including how many sessions will be needed. We often recommend six treatments, depending on your unique skin and the severity of your acne.

Is There Any Downtime With LaserClear Acne Treatment?
There are countless acne treatments, but LaserClear stands out because of its effectiveness, convenience, and safety. Unlike harsh drugs such as Accutane, LaserClear has minimal side effects. And unlike antibiotics and topical treatments commonly used for acne, LaserClear treats the cause of acne, not just the effects.
You won’t need to take any downtime after LaserClear and can immediately return to work or school. However, your skin will be a bit sensitive after laser treatment, so we recommend limiting sun exposure and wearing sunscreen.
Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Acne Treatment?
Almost anyone struggling with acne is a good candidate for LaserClear. Patients with moderate to severe acne at any age can benefit from LaserClear.
