How Long is Recovery From an Eyelid Lift?
July 15, 2022
If you feel like drooping eyelids make you look tired or older than you feel, you have several options for improving them. Dr. Langdon offers a laser eyelid lift with all the results of a traditional surgical procedure but with much less recovery time. You will look and even feel more alert and energized!Â
What is an Eyelid Lift or Blepharoplasty?
Age and sun damage often have a significant impact on delicate eyelid skin. The upper eyelids begin to sag and wrinkle, and the lower eyelids develop puffy undereye bags. An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty tightens and lifts the eyelids. It can also eliminate the appearance of undereye bags. Dr. Langdon can perform an eyelid lift on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both for maximum results.

How Long is Recovery From an Eyelid Lift?
Recovery from a laser blepharoplasty takes less time than recovery from a traditional surgical eyelid lift. You might have some mild discomfort during the first day. Most people can go back to work and do other light activities two to four days after the procedure. More strenuous activities may have to wait for two weeks.Â
Types of Eyelid Lifts
Dr. Langdon offers two eyelid lift techniques so he can help you achieve your goals.
Laser Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)
A laser eyelid lift is much like a traditional one except that Dr. Langdon uses a CO2 laser instead of a scalpel. This laser cauterizes small blood vessels, which significantly decreases bleeding and swelling. In the upper lids, excess skin is removed; in the lower lids, fat is removed to reduce the puffy bags. The surgery takes one to two hours, depending on the complexity of your procedure. You will only need local anesthesia and will not feel any discomfort during the surgery. The greatest advantage of the laser technique is that post-operatively there is much less bruising and swelling, and thus a shorter recovery period.
Natural Eyelid Lift
If your eyes look tired because of volume loss, a natural eyelid lift may be right for you. The periorbital (around the eye) area often experiences noticeable volume loss over time. Dr. Langdon can restore a fuller, more youthful appearance by transferring fat from another part of your body to the periorbital area.Â
How Much Does an Eyelid Lift Cost?
Costs for an eyelid lift will vary depending on several factors:
- Your location
- Your surgeon’s skill and experience
- The type of procedure
- Additional fees and expenses
The average cost of blepharoplasty is $4675. Some people have enough drooping upper eyelid skin that it impairs their field of vision. In these cases, your health insurance may cover some or all of the procedure.

Am I A Good Candidate for An Eyelid Lift?
You may be a good candidate for an eyelid lift if you have drooping eyelid skin or puffy undereye bags. People without much loose skin but noticeable volume loss will often benefit from a natural eyelid lift. Those with sagging and volume loss may choose to have both procedures.
Dr. Langdon is professional and curteous. His staff is as well and try to provide a safe, calm and pleasant environment. Privacy and professionalism are of the utmost importance to all. Would highly recommend this practice to others including family and friends.
