How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
June 20, 2022
Have you lost volume in your facial features or developed lines and wrinkles? These natural results of aging can make you look older and more tired. You can reverse the effects of time and restore youthful fullness with dermal fillers.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that enhance volume, smooth lines and wrinkles, and fill in deep creases and folds. They use materials found naturally in the human body or proven non-reactive and safe. Some add volume directly, while others trigger collagen production for gradually developing results that can last a long time.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
Dermal fillers come in a variety of different materials. Some, like hyaluronic acid, will be removed by the body in six to twelve months. Others can last one to two years or even longer. At the Langdon Center, we offer the widest range of dermal fillers, so we have the perfect one to match your goals and lifestyle.
Types of Dermal Fillers
Your injection specialist will choose the right dermal fillers for you and may use more than one type for different areas of your face.
Bellafill®
This dermal filler uses PMMA microspheres to treat deep lines and wrinkles by increasing your own collagen production. PMMA has been used safely in many medical applications, and your results can last up to five years in some areas.Â
Juvederm®
The Juvederm® family of fillers uses hyaluronic acid. This complex molecule attracts and holds moisture in the skin. It adds immediate volume and can last six months to a year or more.Â
Radiesse®
Calcium-based microspheres make Radiesse® safe and long-lasting. When used to treat deep lines and wrinkles, it gives you results that can last one to two years.

Restylane®
This dermal filler family also uses hyaluronic acid. These dermal fillers have become very popular due to their effectiveness and immediate results. This family contains fillers for lines and wrinkles, lips, cheeks, and other areas.Â
Versa®
FDA-approved Versa® works to treat deep creases like the nasolabial folds. It can also be used for the lips and in other parts of the face to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles.Â
Sculptra®
This dermal filler uses medical-grade poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic biocompatible material. It does not add immediate volume but stimulates collagen production for results that develop over several weeks and can last two years or more.
Voluma®
Voluma® has been designed to restore volume to the cheeks. It has a more durable hyaluronic acid formula that can tolerate challenging applications like volume-filling the cheeks and deep facial folds.Â
Is There Any Downtime With Dermal Fillers?
You may notice some bruising after your injections. This resolves within a few days. You can go back to your regular activities after your injections. Depending on the type of dermal filler, you may receive other instructions to follow.
I have been going to Dr Langdon for years -using various products and procedures to maintain a more youthful look. I am extremely pleased with my results-although, some products are better than others. I am particularly happy with Bellafill as a filler.
Dr Langdon and his staff are easy to work with and very attentive.
