Eyelid Lift vs. Brow Lift: What’s the Difference?
April 3, 2022
Have you looked in the mirror and wondered how to make your tired, hooded eyes look young and bright again? You may need an eyelid lift, a brow lift, or both. Sagging brows and eyelids are commonly seen withaging but you have options to correct them if they bother you.
Eyelid Lift vs. Brow Lift: What’s the Difference?
We communicate many emotions with a glance, and our eyes form an essential part of our interactions with others. When interacting with other people, your eye area is the part of your face that they observe most closely. When skin, muscle, and fat in the eyelid area start to sag, you may notice excess skin, undereye bags, and drooping brows. You may even have a problem with drooping upper eyelid skin that partly obscures your vision.
*Individual Results May Vary
You may benefit from a blepharoplastyt if your primary concern lies with sagging eyelids or bags under the eyes. Dr. Langdon can perform this procedure on the upper or lower eyelid, and many people choose to have both.
If you have concerns about sagging and skin laxity in your forehead, temple and brow area, a brow lift may help you. This procedure lifts the skin and underlying layers to raise sagging brows and smooth your temples and lateral forehead.
How Does an Eyelid Lift Work?
Dr. Langdon performs an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) using a CO2 laser, instead of a scalpel, to make incisions . On the upper eyelid he removes excess skin and underlying muscle tissue, then places stitches on the sides of the incision. In the lower lid he removes excess orbital fat to smooth the bulging “bags” in this area.
For people who have volume loss around the eyes, Dr. Langdon may recommend a Natural Eyelid Lift using small amounts of fat. This technique can permanently restore volume lost due to age. This method gives the eye area a more youthful, healthy appearance.
If you want to consider noninvasive options, Dr. Langdon recommends an erbium:YAG laser. This type of laser is used to “resurface” the skin in the “crow’s feet” and lower lid areas, and is very effective at smoothing wrinkles.

How Does a Brow Lift Work?
Dr. Langdon performs a brow lift using endoscopic techniques that allow him to use tiny incisions hidden in your hairline. Alternatively, he may recommend a subcutaneous brow lift, which can be very effective at lifting the lateral brows. You will see lifted brows that make you look more alert and bright-eyed, and you will notice that your forehead looks smoother and tighter.
Eyelid Lift vs. Brow Lift: Cost
Costs for both procedures will vary widely depending on your location, the experience and skill of your provider, and the type of procedure. National averages for each procedure:
Brow Lift: $3900
Eyelid Lift: $3282
In all cases Dr. Langdon will recommend the option that gives you the best results.
I feel so much younger now that it looks complete. I sometimes wonder why I would submit myself to pain but it worked out so well and made me look more attractve and less old and creepy. The surgery was very effective and shows much improvement. It did meet my expectations when I was very uncertain …
