July 3, 2012
If only you can turn back the hands of time and restore your youthful skin…
Worry no more about marionette lines and your skin losing its luster. Here’s a rundown of the latest non-invasive techniques to safely get rid of those wrinkles in a jiffy. Dr. Robert Langdon of The Langdon Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery will be delighted to discuss with you these non-invasive procedures anytime soon. These techniques are a good alternative to a Connecticut Botox session if you want to freshen up sans the knife.
*Individual Results May Vary
Dysport
FDA-approved Dysport is Botox’ injectable form. It works by stopping the muscles around your brows, eyes and lips from contracting. Dysport works faster than Botox and the procedure can be done in as little as 15 minutes. Its firming effects lasts up to 3-4 months.
Restylane
Hyaluronic acid is a skin-plumping carbohydrate found in the body. One of aging’s detrimental effects is decreased production of this carbohydrate. A restylane injectable contains generous amounts of hyaluronic acid and works its miracles by plumping hollowed areas. Unlike collagen-based fillers, restylane is allergy-free.
Juviderm
As a derivative of healthy bacteria, Juviderm works just like restylane as it is also made of hyaluronic acid. It comes as a thick gel and is usually injected into the nasolabial folds for that extra plumping effect. Dr. Langdon can either opt to go for a numbing cream or a local anesthetic to numb the areas supposed to be operated on. The procedure may last for 45 minutes to an hour including skin preparation time.
Sculptra
Sculptra was first approved by the FDA in 2004 for fat reduction as a result of infection amongst HIV patients. In 2009, it was approved by the FDA for cosmetic purposes. The Poly-L-lactic acid in this injectable filler stimulates the production of elastin, fibronectin and collagen. All three are responsible for younger-looking skin. Effects can last up to two years.
Radiesse
Hydroxyapatite, a chemical found in your bones and teeth, is the main substance making up Radiesse. It is highly effective for hollowed areas around the face but may not work that well for areas where skin is thinner, like your lips.
