How Much Downtime Will I Need After a Facelift?
June 30, 2023
Do you feel too young for deep wrinkles, sagging jowls, and “turkey neck”? Eliminate these signs of aging with a facelift. This procedure lifts and tightens your skin, restoring definition to your features and smoothing wrinkles and creases.
What is a Facelift or Rhytidectomy?
A facelift or rhytidectomy is an anti-aging procedure that lifts and rejuvenates your skin. Dr. Langdon performs ExpresS-Lift facelifts at The Langdon Center. This facelift minimizes incisions and recovery time while providing your desired lift and improvement. A facelift is the most effective way to address significant signs of aging, such as loose skin and deep wrinkles.
How Does an ExpresS-Lift Facelift Work?
An ExpresS-Lift facelift provides the results of a traditional facelift with smaller incisions. It lifts and tightens the skin while addressing the SMAS layer (the layer beneath the skin containing muscles and connective tissue) to improve the mid to lower face and neck. Dr. Langdon makes incisions hidden in the hairline and around the ears to minimize scars.
How Much Downtime Will I Need After a Facelift?
An ExpresS-Lift facelift requires less downtime than a traditional facelift. After an ExpresS-Lift facelift, most people can return to work in one to two weeks. Bruising and swelling are minimized and usually resolve within the first week or two, although small areas of residual swelling (usually near the hairline) can last several weeks.

Do I Need a Surgical or Non-Surgical Facelift?
If you are not ready for surgery, injectables such as muscle relaxers and dermal fillers can create a smoother, more youthful appearance. A non-surgical facelift can smooth, plump, and define your features. However, it cannot tighten significantly loose or sagging skin. Any non-surgical facelift will produce less dramatic results than a surgical procedure would provide.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Facelift?
Good candidates for a facelift range widely in age. They typically have significant skin laxity, sagging, and wrinkles they want to address. Good candidates should be healthy enough for surgery and recovery.
