Surgical VS Non-Surgical Facelift Options: Which is Right for Me?
February 23, 2022
If you have been looking for a way to rejuvenate your face and make yourself look years younger, you may consider a surgical vs. a non-surgical facelift. Dr. Robert Langdon at The Langdon Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery performs surgical and non-surgical facelifts, giving you several options to help achieve your individual treatment goals.
*Individual Results May Vary
What is a Surgical Facelift?
Dr. Langdon offers the ExpresS-Lift facelift for those who want a surgical option with smaller incisions and less recovery time than a standard facelift. This technique can lift the skin, connective tissue, and muscles back to their more youthful position. A small incision near the ear allows for the removal of excess skin, lifting volume back into the cheeks and improving lines and wrinkles in the lower face and neck. Most people can return to work within a week to ten days of their surgery, with mild bruising that usually fades within the first week.
What is a Non-Surgical Facelift?
We also offer two types of non-surgical facelifts for people who can achieve their treatment goals using a non-surgical method.
Precision Tx™
In this laser procedure, a tiny fiber optic cannula is inserted through small incisions in the skin of the neck and lower face. This fiber carries laser energy that partially liquifies fat. This energy also heats the skin and underlying connective tissue, causing it to tighten, stimulating the production of collagen. This results in tighter, firmer skin on the cheeks, neck, and jawline.
SmartLyft with Renuvion®
SmartLyft uses a combination of liposuction to remove excess fat around the neck and jowls, followed by Renuvion® radiofrequency treatment to tighten the skin, leaving the treated area looking more contoured and slimmer. Renuvion® works by using radiofrequency (RF) energy to trigger immediate skin tightening as well as collagen production.

Surgical Vs Non-Surgical Facelift Options: Which is Right for Me?
If you want the most dramatic results and the most noticeable improvements in loose skin, Dr. Landgon may recommend a surgical facelift, especially because the ExpresS-Lift facelift lets people recover more quickly with minimal scars. For people looking for less invasive options with less recovery time than a facelift, a non-surgical facelift may be the best choice.
Each of our three facelift methods offers different benefits, but all can improve the appearance of the neck, under-chin area, jawline and lower face. Your choice depends on the degree of improvement you want to see. If you have significant loose skin, a non-surgical facelift may not tighten it enough to see the improvements you want so a surgical facelift may make a good choice. If you have less skin laxity and need skin firming and tightening, a non-surgical method makes a good option.Â
How Long Does a Facelift Last?
You can expect a surgical facelift to last ten years or more. Both non-surgical procedures also remove fat, and this fat will not return. Results can last indefinitely, but age and gravity will eventually result in skin starting to sag again. You can expect to enjoy your results for many years.
Dr. Langdon is VERY experienced. He and his staff will tell you exactly what to do, what to expect, and check in with you all along the way. Very professional but also personable. And for me that was everything. There were times leading into my decision to have the mini express face lift when I was nervous but everyone was supportive. I had the procedure 4 months ago and I am ELATED. I no longer have to see my double chin and droopy jowls on zoom and Facebook meetings!!!!! Overjoyed really!
