What are the Benefits of Microneedling?
September 15, 2021
Our skin is a remarkable barrier that protects us from harsh environments and the sun. But with time, damage at the cellular level accumulates enough to show on the surface. We develop lines and wrinkles, visible sun damage, dull, dry skin, enlarged pores, and more. Dr. Robert Langdon and the team at The Langdon Center for Laser & Cosmetic Surgery can reverse many of these signs of aging and damage with micro-needling treatments.
How Does Microneedling Work?
Micro-needling utilizes the body’s healing process to repair tissues by replacing damaged cells with new, healthy cells. Micro-needling uses this to your advantage by creating tiny, controlled injuries with a matrix of needles that penetrate to therapeutic depths within your skin.Â
At The Langdon Center, we use the AquaGold® Fine Touch device, with 24K gold-tipped needles that stimulate your body’s repair processes and boost your collagen and elastin fiber production. Collagen and elastin are essential support structures for youthful, firm skin. When the micro-injuries are created, not only are new cells generated to replace those that are damaged, but new collagen and elastin fibers are produced to tighten skin.Â
AquaGold® enhances this rejuvenation process by giving your Langdon Center specialist the additional power to infuse serums deeper into the skin for more thorough repair and enhanced beauty.
Micro-needling can successfully treat:
- Acne scars
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage
- Hyperpigmentation
- Enlarged Pores

What are the Benefits of Microneedling?
Repairs Scars
Micro-needling allows your body to replace scar tissue with new, healthy skin cells, making this treatment highly effective for diminishing scars caused by acne or even trauma.
Reverses Sun Damage
Sun exposure increases the production of melanin, which rises to the surface and causes age spots. When UV rays damage melanocytes these cells form clusters that result in blotchy spots on our skin, such as hyperpigmentation, age spots, or melasma. Micro-needling breaks up these clusters and prompts new skin cells to rise to the surface and replace them.
Diminishes Fine Lines and Wrinkles
When collagen and elastin fibers break down, our skin doesn’t have as much support to stay firm and tight. Gravity pulls the skin down, resulting in lines and wrinkles. Micro-needling stimulates the fibroblast cells responsible for collagen production to repair weakened collagen fibers and create new ones, tightening the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s like a reset button on aging.
Deeply Infuses Beneficial Serums
The AquaGold® Fine Touch micro-needling tip is capable of delivering therapeutic serums chosen for your specific skin concerns through the micro-injuries and deeper into your skin. The deeper penetration of these active serums results in greater efficacy than if they were simply applied on the skin’s surface.
Less Recovery Time than Chemical Peels
Typically, patients at The Langdon Center experience 24-48 hours of redness, sensitivity, and minor swelling or bruising with micro-needling. With chemical peels, you may require up to 10 days of healing before you’re ready to resume your schedule. With micro-needling, you may only need a day or two of social downtime.
Great office, everyone makes you feel comfortable and Dr. Langdon is great!
